People who make icons and tell you it's okay to edit are awesome. Just wanted to put that out there.

Went to see X-Men 3 on Monday. I think I have decided that, yes, the digital way is the better way. And the movie was okay. I haven't read the comics, so I don't know all that much about how it "should've been." Which is good, probably, considering my intense hatred for book!canon raped on film. (Mike Newell still has some serious ass-kissing to do before I forgive him.) But I was still a little disappointed by how Jean was portrayed. Just, well, what? Oh, and I had some issues with Halle Barry's hair. If Taylor Hicks were black and a woman... Well. Blah.

Speaking of Taylor, I've actually managed NOT to find out who won. Not that I go a lot of places that American Idol is talked about, but it has meant no Jackie & Bender lately. No, it's not important, but yes, I will make a voodoo doll and hurt you if you ruin it for me.

I am not doing shit to finish my papers. They're due in a week, and I get that if I want a just half-decent finished product I need to get my ass in gear, but I JUST DON'T CARE. Really. I've always managed to do at least a bit of work almost every day, which is all I'd really need for this, but I can't even manage that.

I watched The Jungle Book (finally) a few days ago, and ordered five books explaining Bakhtin because I can't be bothered to actually read Rabelais and his World, and then I decided it was still too much work, so I would just spend four pages proving how it is not a Bildungsroman. Possibly, if I run out of things to say I will throw a bit of Freud into that, but I really don't want to, because, well, it's Freud and he's a jerk. Oh, and I wrote the introduction, and it's crap. All in all, I'd say I'm off to a good start.

I've written a very basic outline for the Russian Lit paper and come up with a new topic. Instead of just writing about outsiders I'm writing about conformity and outsiders. Because the less you narrow it down, the less you will need to go into detail. And it's a way out of having to write about the socio-political aspect, which is totally fascinating but also way too complex. At least when you're as lazy as I am it's too complex. Also, I'd need a history book to refer to, because I can't just say, "Well, I know all this shit about the Communists and the Western world, and just take my word for it." So that would be one more book I needed to read. I've read fifteen pages of We looking for examples. That's it. Whatever.

WTF, Schnyder? Are you letting Venus win?
