Let me think...

There were three episodes of Without a Trace, right?

Let me think some more...

Oh. Yes. ALP wrote one. It was lame. Ten years ago it could have been cool and experimental. In 2007 it was lame. I spent the first 30 minutes thinking how that SOUNDED just like Jacqueline McKenzie, but it didn't LOOK like her so much. Then I spent the last 12 minutes bored out of my skull after realizing it WAS her.

Was that it? No, wait. Sam and Martin SAT RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. Like, ZOMG! That was totally a moment. It absolutely oozed sex and romance. It was completely obvious from the way they didn't look at each other at all that they're way much in love. Like, OMG.

...

Yeah.

And then Sam's sister showed up. And some kid had sex with a cop and everyone hated on him because the girl was a moron. Yes, he was a creep, but SHE had sex with him. And she didn't mind. He didn't rape her. She didn't handcuff him to the bed because he was a pedophile, she did it because she wanted to steal his money and his car.

And Jack met the sister when Sam stood her up. And Sam told the sister that she couldn't be the one who helped her will all her problems.

And then the next week the sister disappeared. And logic took a backseat to crappy writing and even worse acting.

How we got from Jack speaking to the sister, whose name isn't even Spade, to VIVIAN seeing her name on an APB and knowing who she is, is beyond me. Also, I would have liked it better if the rest of the team (meaning Jack, really) hadn't been involved. I also would have liked it Martin hadn't acted as if Sam was just a random team member, but y'know. When I was nine I wanted a pony for Christmas. That wasn't ever going to happen, either.

The week before, when Sam said she couldn't be the one to take care of her sister, I assumed the sister was messed up. Had a drug problem, or no money or whatever. Not that she had been reasonably happily married (as happy as you can be when you on Without a Trace, anyway) to a wealthy lawyer for 10 (or whatever) years. Although I can see how that's just AWFUL.

But the shovel scene mystery was solved. Could it BE any more obvious? Couldn't there have been just the tiniest of unexpected twists? Like, maybe the sister HADN'T gotten pregnant and run away and no one ever found out? Gawd.

Oh, and for a self-proclaimed wise man Jack really doesn't get life. "You told me you killed your sister's rapist and then I lied to save your ass so now you owe ME and you couldn't tell the truth because that would have gotten me in trouble, so I really never gave you the choice of doing the right thing. That's what closure means, Sam: Getting more people in trouble to save you and not getting to make the choice on your own. It's all good now. You'll be fine now. Oh, and by the way, you make crappy choices about your personal life. Unlike me, your boss, who cheated on my wife with you. It's all on you, Sam. You're the stupid one. But now I took it upon myself to save you, and you'll be fine. Let's never talk about it again." He just pisses me off.

If he wasn't always so self-righteous all the time I wouldn't have minded him telling Sam she needed to smarten up about her private life, but it was just so out of place and he's just such a bastard.

Also, how was Martin a crappy choice? A nice, caring guy, who would have helped her if she let him. Oooh, yes, stay away from THAT, Sam. WhatEVER.

And, amazingly, that wasn't the thing that bothered me the most about the episode. Poopy's boyfriend was. Could that have been any dumber?

Now, just to end on a cheerful note: Poppy isn't even pretty anymore. She looks very weird in a scary way. Especially in close-ups. No more close-ups.

(See, that wasn't really cheerful at all, but I'm all out of WaT cheer.)

And then there were some Bones in a book

And the book was Brennan's and the protagonist's name was Kathy Reichs and I couldn't help thinking I got the symmetry but it was a little stupid.

But the way it played out was beyond cool. Even if I guessed it ten minutes in. With Bones, you can get it right, but you still don't know until the end that you did.

How happy are we all that Sully is gone? I went all squee inside when he sailed off on the good ship Lollipop. No, wait, Temperence. Again, a little stupid. But he's gone, so whatever.

Booth was cool. All self-sacrificing-like. Angela annoyed me. She sometimes does, because she's supposed to be Brennan's best friend, but half the time it's like she just doesn't get it. There's only HER perspective, and it should work for everyone. Cam made me laugh. First time ever. Maybe I'll even grow to like her eventually. Stranger things HAVE happened. Zack and Hodgins were completely gross, but it was fine. Just, I should know better than to eat while I watch this show. They can do whatever they want with the bones, but inflating a HEAD? Ew gross!

I look forward to seeing how things will play out now that there is no third wheel. Make it last, please. This is the only ship I have left.

Um. Boston Legal?

Now, I love Alan. I ADORE Alan. But it's not called The Alan Shore Show. And Alan is all I remember. And Alan with Denny on the balcony. "Tease."

Possibly I was distracted by the presence of Karen. Was I the only one? I mean, I never really watched Will & Grace, but she still managed to annoy me, even if she was nothing LIKE Karen.

The thing I love about BL is that it hardly ever lets me down. Just when I thought Alan was going to disappoint and get the killer off even if I didn't like her (which is all-important to Alan, obviously), he made her take the deal because he realized she was guilty. Aww.

But, how many ex-girlfriends does the guy have? That appear on the show, I mean. Obviously he has a ton. But why are they all accused of crimes? Or crazy?

Heh. I haven't even watched WaT in forever. Well actually I kinda skimmed thru the Jackie Mackenzie ep. Because I like the 4400. How terrible a reason is that?

"Hey I'm watching your show because there's a guest star from another show that I like way better."

As for the OMGSAM'S SECRET!!! episode(s)? Well. Hmm, I've gotten more from your review than anywhere else so I kinda can piece together what's going on. Meh Jack. He's a pompous ass.... but I try and justify it by saying he's trying to get Sam to learn from his mistakes.... I dunno. I HOPE that's what they were going for and not just Jack telling Sam off about her personal choices with absolutely no regard to continuity to his character's history.

*sigh*

And yeah, having "Karen" guest star on BL was weird. But unlike most of the season so far I really REALLY enjoyed this one because it was actually LEGALLY resolved and the arguments in trial were LEGAL ones. It seems like most of the season the arguments for CP&S have been moral, ethical or plain opinion. This one was fully solved on legal grounds... even if it did kinda remind me of Primal Fear a little bit... to the point where when Alan suggested changing the plea to insanity, i was like "YOU CAN'T DO THAT MID-TRIAL!!!" Primal Fear taught me that.

And although I love Brad and Denise, I've found that Brad's been a complete dickwad all season so I'd rather have little/no Brad/Denise than anything else that can screw over my ship anymore.

Yeah, I don't know why I still watch it every goddamn week. It's never any good.

But there can be no justifying Jack to me. Nonononono. Let me break down the dumb scene for you:

Earlier in the episode, when Sam found out her sister was missing (local PD called her because the sister had Sam's card, not knowing they were family) she called Jack's office and left a message for him that she had a "family emergency" and needed a few personal days. Then Viv finds out about the APB and Jack sees THAT as a perfectly good reason to stick his nose in, so he goes to the police station, where Sam is questioning her brother-in-law. Jack gives her a lecture on what defines a "family emergency" because clearly she doesn't know, so she tells him the team "already has their plate full."
Jack: "That doesn't explain why you didn't tell ME."
Sam: "Because I don't want my private life in the office." (Very annoyed.)
Jack: "Ugh! You know what, SAMANTHA, in the personal arena I would have to say that you consistently make the WORST choices."
Sam: "Present company included?" (In that annoying 'Poppy wants to look sad about it but the director won't let her so she just gives half an expression that isn't really anything at all'-way.)
Jack: "Definitely."
And then they go back to talking about the case.

Please, make Jack look good for saying this. ;)

It seems like most of the season the arguments for CP&S have been moral, ethical or plain opinion.

Yeah, I think my ignorance of US law has made me just not care so much about that. Instead I'm completely fascinated by how they can get almost any jury to say pretty much what they want them to, just by appealing to their sense of morality. We have very few real jury cases in Denmark, and in the one recent one that I remember, the judge overturned the verdict. (He TOLD them they couldn't legally find three of the four people on charge guilty, but they did that anyway. LOL.) I always wonder why judges on BL don't do that. They can, can't they?

American courtroom dramas just amuse me so much because it's so bizarre. Heh.

Oh, I'm so glad you don't like Brad either this season. I was worried it was just me being weird. :)

Because of your dear self, I just watched this episode. Firstly I was shocked that Megan Mullwhatsit's voice was not at all shrill - that was strange. Secondly Alan simply -never- disappoints, even when he has an abundance of psychotic ex-girlfriends, I just see that as part of his completely unjustified self loathing. How can a man who is so incredibly good in the most important of ways hate himself so much?

Of course the added bonus is always the Denny moments. I adore Denny. I was also fond of Jeffrey Coho, but I guess I must have been in the minority there, I'm actually going to miss him!

Yeah, she didn't sound as annoying, which was good, because otherwise I don't think I'd have been able to watch it. LOL.

No, I don't think he has ever disappointed me as such, actually, but there have been a few times that I just didn't really get it. Like the whole pants fitting thing. Ugh. But there must be something we don't know about him yet. You don't just get to be like that from being a lawyer, right?

I SORT OF liked CoHo. He grew on me and I was sad to see him go, but I have to admit I don't actually miss him that much, because the Brad/Denise/CoHo triangle was so annoying.

Denny wins at being cool. Which confuses me every time, but he's just too awesome. :D
