Urgh!

I wish I were 14 again and found pleasure in the fact that Thursday night was 90210 night. Of course now every day is 90210 day as TV2 work their way through another rerun. I just take no pleasure in the fact. To think that I once thought Luke Perry was hot... To think that I am sitting here, writing that in a journal on the Internet that everyone can read.

But hey, I am reduced to sitting here, in my bed, at 1pm watching Dynasty and breathing through a Kleenex. It doesn't get much more pathetic than that, does it? I mean, DYNASTY? (I remember most of the characters but the plotline has escaped me. Go figure. Ooooh, Chrystle just fell of her horse because Joan Collins fired a shot and scared the horse. The drama!)

If I had still been at my old place I would still have all the cable channels, not just the free ones, and I would have been watching something highbrow, like Ricki Lake or Dr. Phil... [insert sarcastic eyeroll] I do miss cable, though, and am almost desperate enough to actually PAY for it. Again, pathetic!

Apparently my sore throat of Monday transformed into a hideous cold. Yesterday. When I had my first class. Which I just couldn't stay away from, because then I wouldn't have a clue what was going on.

So for two loooong hours I sat there with a runny nose (charming) going "drrrrr" "t" "t" trying to learn the sounds of the Russian alphabet. Being criticized for not making a proper "T" sound. After about 15 attempts I was tempted to offer the teacher my tongue and tonsils, and then HE could try and produce that sound. I mean, hell, I can't even pronounce words properly in my OWN language...

So today I opted for staying at home in bed and learning my consonants from the CD-ROM instead. Which, at some point, I will...

I just found out that my mobile has been acting strangely. I got an e-mail from my mom yesterday saying she had been trying to reach me on Tuesday but it had been switched off. Now, my phone is NEVER switched off, so I figured she must have just got the number wrong. Alas, no. I tried to send a text message just now (because my 'proper' phone isn't working either, so I couldn't answer when it rang) but it wouldn't let me. So I took out the battery and put it back in, upon which I promptly received 8 text messages--six of them from the phone company about calls received while the phone had been switched off (but it wasn't!) and two from a friend asking if I wanted to go to Rome with a bunch of friends in February.

I hate my phones. Both of them.
